Departures every Monday and Tuesday
1: For the first 10 departures (March 26th to April 24th, the cruise is operated by “Celestyal Crystal”. All other departures are operated by the “Celestyal Olympia”
2: For all Tuesday departures, the city tour is operated after the cruise, and there is a supplement of $ 20 per person for all Thursday departures

 

 

ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Athens

On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to relax or explore Athens.

Day 2: Athens

After breakfast, enjoy a day dedicated to exploring the city of Athens. We will begin with a panoramic tour passing by the most important monuments and landmarks of the city. Marvel at the Panathinaikon stadium (the marble stadium where the first modern Olympics in 1896 took place), pass by the ex Royal Palace and today the Prime Minister's residence, the Zappion (ex Royal gardens and conference and exhibition hall), the temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the tomb of the unknown soldier guarded by the colourful Evzones, Schliemann's' house, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the old Parliament, and Constitution (Syntagma) square to arrive at the Acropolis. Our guided visit to the Acropolis will include the Propylae, the temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion. Later, we will walk through Herodion and Dionysos theatre to the nearby museum of Acropolis, voted one of the best museums in the world, for a guided visit. This afternoona is at leisure, so you may like to explore Plaka, the picturesque old part of the city, or do some shopping at Ermou street.

Day 3: Delphi - Kalambaka

After our breakfast we depart northwards towards Delphi, which used to be the most sacred place in the world and a pilgrimage centre for many centuries in antiquity. You will admire the Sanctuary of Apollo, walk the Sacred way, and visit the temple of Apollo, home of Pythia (the oracle). We then continue to the local museum with the famous bronze statue of the Charioteer. In the afternoon we will be crossing the mountains of central Greece to arrive in Kalambaka for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 4: Meteora - Athens

This morning we will be visiting Meteora, just a few kilometres northwest of the town of Kalabaka, the impressive rocks of Meteora rise from the plains of Thessaly and is one of the most amazing places in Greece to visit. These amazing rock formations, like towers of sandstone, stand ageless, and have provided sacred retreat for monks over the centuries. A number of byzantine monasteries are perched on top of the steep rocks that house priceless artifacts and wall paintings. Today only six monasteries are active in Meteora. The view over the plain is simply breathtaking and Meteora is listed as a Unesco World Heritage site. After our visit, we will take the road back to Athens. On the way, we will have a short stop at Thermopylae, to admire the statue of Leonidas King of Sparta. Overnight stay in Athens.

Day 5: Athens - Mykonos

After breakfast, transfer to Piraeus port to embark the Celestyal cruise ship for a three night Iconic Aegean cruise. Arrival will be around 18:00, where you'll have some free time to explore bustling Mykonos, a whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades.

Day 6: Samos or Kusadasi - Patmos

Early in the morning you will be arriving at the island of Samos. Those who do not wish to continue to Turkey, will be able to disembark in Samos and join the included excursion “Panoramic Samos”. The cruise ship will continue onto Kusadasi. Those who stayed onboard will depart for the included excursion “Ancient Ephesus through the Ages”. In the afternoon, and after a short stop in Samos, the ship will arrive in Patmos with the famous monastery of St. John and the Grotto of the Apocalypse.

Day 7: Heraklion - Santorini

We will arrive in Heraklion early this morning. You may like to join the optional excursion to the Minoan Palace of Knossos. In the afternoon we will arrive at the unique island of Santorini. During your included tour, you will visit the village of Profitis Ilias and the most popular village of Santorini, Oia, with its stunning views of the caldera and the volcano.

Day 8: Piraeus

We will arrive into Piraeus port early in the morning. After breakfast on board disembark and transfer to Athens airport for your departure flight.
